Ski Stop #8 of 42 - Mount Timothy Ski Resort

A quick short 38 km drive for us to Mount Timothy Ski Resort - Esketemculeucw (Esk’etemc) and Secwepemcúl’ecw (Secwépemc) Territory.

Our day started with some worry. We were headed to Mount Timothy where they had been forced to close with the unusual and unseasonal warm weather this winter. But the day turned into a fantastic and memorable one.

We were first greeted to the mountain by Wyatt who came bounding towards us. Larry and Lori Henderson, owners of Mount Timothy, then welcomed us into the beautiful log day lodge where we had a great sit down and chat - with Mr. Cooper always close by. The facilities and infrastructure at Mount Timothy are simply amazing. All their timber buildings are incredibly beautiful and meticulously maintained - even their Liftee Huts are stunning log structures. Their Triple Red Chair brought back some fond memories as it had originally been at Mount Washington and we have one of the chairs from that same lift at our family cabin.

Sitting on one of the chairs, Larry told us how 'a' beer led to them buying Mount Timothy - you can watch that fun chairlift chat here:

There is 310m (1017 ft) of vertical to enjoy - off a triple chair, T-bar, and double magic carpet. And there is more to come with an intriguing expansion in the works.

Their on-mountain cabins might be the most ski-in/ski-out accommodations anywhere. Beautifully constructed and cozy, and the mountain is literally right outside your door. We were planning a future stay there before we even left the mountain.

And then came a magical and incredible experience. Larry himself jumped into a snowcat, pulled up beside us, and offered to take us up to the top of the mountain so that we could ski Mount Timothy and keep it on our list of skiing all the areas in B.C. in the same winter.

We excitedly jumped in and rode to the mountain top in style. At the top of the Triple Chair, Larry and his team are working to finish a log restaurant/bar that has big windows and striking views looking back down the valley. It is going to be an incredible place for dining once it is opened.

What could have easily turned sour for us - turned into a ton of smiles and a day to remember on our tour of all the ski areas in B.C. Below is our daily video summary of our wonderful day at Mount Timothy - set to Something to Live For by Barney Bentall & The Legendary Hearts (chosen for this spot from another special connection of friends made at Loon Lake, not too far away, a long time ago).
