Ski Stop #10 of 42 - Little Mac Ski Hill

Straight North for 337 km and we got to Little Mac Ski Hill in Mackenzie - Tse'khene Territory. Fantastic community hill for local fun - day & night. A great starter area where a lot of kids and adults in the area have gotten their first ski and ride days in. Their poma lift and night skiing lights cover the entire 90 metres (295 ft) of vertical. You can leave the center of Mackenzie and be putting on your skis in the parking lot in just a few minutes - and the lot is at the top of the lift so you're skiing immediately. They have a nice little warm-up hut at the top of the poma - and a great view in every direction.

We connected with Bill Laing of the Northern Edge Snowboard Club who told us a great story about hopeful local Snowboard Olympian, Evan Bichon, who founded his riding on the Little Mac slopes. You can see and hear that story here:

Individuals like Bill Laing create so many opportunities and memories for young athletes. Thank you, Bill, for your efforts.

We were worried we weren't going to get in any turns, but ending up getting a couple of great runs in at Little Mac - despite the snow challenges which only allowed the hill to open for a few days so far this year. We could see from the slope that when they have snow - it would be a great training area.

Communities that have a ski hill like Little Mac in Mackenzie are very fortunate. They provide such a great opportunity for families and school kids to learn a new sport and have fun in our Canadian winters.
