Ski Stop #7 of 42 - The Hills Snow Park

337 km to our next stop - The Hills Snow Park in 108 Mile Ranch - Esketemculeucw (Esk’etemc) and Secwepemcúl’ecw (Secwépemc) Territory.

Not many people know this, but there is a lift-serviced handle tow with a ski run at Spruce Hill Guest Ranch & Spa in 108 Mile Ranch. They are more well known for their network of cross-country ski trails - but they also have a short handle tow for guests who want a ski run or two. They haven't had a guest who has requested that for a couple of years - so we surprised them a bit. Darren, the ski operator of the resort, was very accommodating though. He also let us in on his plans to breathe more life into their little tow and downhill ski portion of their area.

The facilities are great, with a fantastic ski shop and log cabin restaurant and bar overlooking the snow park. We stayed overnight with a view from which we could pick out our runs the next day. It was slim pickings though with El Niño playing tricks this winter.

We decided if we were going to ski all the areas in B.C., our HEAD Kore skis were going to ski them all too. After all, they are an extremely versatile all-mountain ski, even in overgrown brush areas.

It turned into a fun adventure of a day. We hooted and hollered our way down the short run. A couple of the other guests thought we were crazy. One guy thought we were pulling his leg when we told him we just did a couple of downhill runs there.

We didn't get a chance to go for a swim, but maybe next time when we hit The Hills.
